Valenzuela, Vivian

National Honor Society Secretary

It’s proud to say that I have accomplished several things throughout my life that I never thought I would. To start off,  I began my education in Mexico which is where my roots come from, but later there was a great opportunity of attending school in the USA which I will never regret taking. I transferred to Presidio, Tx when I was in fourth grade along with my older sister. This was a very tough experience since I had to adapt to a whole new world and language. Along with all the difficulties, the hardest one was living without my parents since they had to work in Mexico in order to support my family. However, i'm currently a senior at Presidio High School and this whole journey has made me grow as a person and as an independent woman. As well, it has made me realize several things that make me appreciate all the things that the world offers. As of now, I'm a member of  NHS where I'm taking the position of  Secretary. This is my second year in  NHS and I'm beyond happy and proud of the things that we have done in order to improve our community. I’ve had the experience of being able to help others with necessities and it is an unexplainable feeling that it transmits to my heart. Helping others with their needs has always been one of the most amazing things that I’ve done since my mother always took us to help poor communities. As well, I'm currently a member of a religious group which is called MFCJ and I'm part of the officers too. I have been a member for about five years, and it has been a great experience since we are able to give spiritual guidance to others that are in need. We usually make several activities that involve community service since that’s what our funcion is, to help and improve our community. With this being said, these experiences have been helping me reach my goals. My most important goal is to make my parents proud and to be able to finish my planned degrees. As of now, I plan to attend UTPB and pursue a career as an occupational therapist. This career is very appealing to me since therapists help their patients recover and regain their normal life which would make me very happy to see and to be part of the achievement. In regards to now, I plan to help and improve my community the most I can. My community is a very small town where the difference is very noticeable and it is always a great thing. With my classmates, I have in mind to improve our community by helping those in need as well as those students that are struggling in school. I believe that leaving a mark in a community is very important since it will always stay in your heart that you made a great impact on several people which will later on be returned.
